Step back in time & experience the thrill of a medieval joust at Avoncroft Museum!

There will be thundering hooves and all the thrills of a traditional medieval jousting tournament at Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, Bromsgrove, on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September.

Travel back in time to 1459, watch Avoncroft transform into a medieval village for the weekend and learn all about the Battle of Bewdley Bridge.

Each day, skilled re-enactors will be demonstrating horseback skills, weapons drills and activities for younger visitors, all round the living history camps which form the centrepiece of the event.

The highlight of the weekend will be the ‘Joust’ contests where courageous riders and their highly-trained horses take part in dramatic one-to-one combat to test their honour and win the favour of the audience.

Between bouts, visitors will be able to visit the tented medieval village to talk to the knights, ladies, and squires and meet the horses. Visitors can also enjoy archery competitions, battle re-enactments and see the knights practice their mounted skill at arms drills.

There will also be plenty of opportunity for visitors to stroll around the beautiful 19 acre grounds at Avoncroft Museum and explore the collection of 30 rescued and restored buildings, immersing themselves in medieval history.

Gates open at 10.30am and the Museum closes at 5pm. Entry to the event is at the usual Museum admission price: £11 for adults, £9.90 for seniors and £6.60 for children (under 5s are free) and a family tickets is priced at just £33.

Some activities on site may have an additional charge.
